ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH –Parish President Robottom recently presented checks for four projects to be funded through the recently initiated Place-Based Investment Loan Program. The program aims to encourage local economic development and resilience by providing revolving support to small businesses and property owners in key target corridors of the Parish. Eligible projects included façade improvements to commercial historic structures, replacement of dilapidated signs and installation of green infrastructure features in the Major Corridor Overlay District and local historic districts.

Projects funded during this round of applications include:

  • Garyville Timbermill Museum Association -- $50,000 – includes exterior wood and porch repairs, window replacement and painting of exterior siding at the Garyville Museum Building;
  • GSB, LLC -- $50,000 – includes exterior brick repair, window replacement, door replacement and courtyard improvements at the Garyville Bank Building;
  • GSB, LLC -- $50,000 – includes exterior siding repair, addition of steps, door replacement and courtyard improvements at the Garyville General Store Building;
  • 186 Museum, LLC -- $15,900 – includes column repair, siding replacement, and both window and door replacement at Fatty’s Garyville.

“I am excited to present checks to these four projects as I close out my time as Parish President. Following years of investment in public projects, this program helps both property and business owners make much needed improvements. I encourage citizens to apply for future rounds of projects as funds become available,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.

The Place-Based Investment Loan Program is funded through repayments from the Hurricane Isaac CDBG Small Business Loan Program and is managed as a collaboration of the Planning and Zoning Department, Economic Development Department, and South Central Planning and Development Commission.
