 State of Emergency Declared for St. John Parish

Tropical Storm Barry Update #1

Thursday, July 11, 2019 – 11:00 am


·     Parish President Robottom has signed an Emergency Declaration to allow parish officials to take precautionary measures and ensure the safety of St. John Parish residents


·         Tropical Storm Watch in Effect

·         Flash Flood Watch in Effect

·         Heavy Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 inches forecast for Gulf Coast with possible isolated higher amounts as well as strong gusty winds

·         Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out

·         Timing for inclement weather is Friday-Monday


·         Monitor weather reports

·         Prepare by clearing drains and ditches around homes

·         Stock an emergency kit and finalize game plan


Please bring a shovel and prepare to fill your own bags. Please only take what is needed:

·         Intersection of Bamboo Road and Indigo Pkwy (near Lake Pontchartrain Elementary)

·         Railroad Avenue Fire Station (near Riverside Academy)

·          Ezekiel Jackson Park in Garyville

·         West Bank Complex

·         Wallace, Edgard & Pleasure Bend Fire Stations
