St. John the Baptist Parish - On Wednesday, April 11th, President Robottom, staff and Councilman-At-Large Division A Larry Sorapuru joined members of the River Parishes Office of Child Advocacy Services (CASA) and CASA volunteers to plant pinwheels on the lawn at the LaPlace Public Library in recognition of child abuse prevention month.
Earlier in the month, President Robottom and the St. John Parish Council proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month during the regular council meeting. The pinwheel, a known childhood image, takes on new symbolism during this month and are planted throughout the country to bring awareness to child abuse.
“The pinwheel is one example of the positive effect we can all have on children during these dark moments in their lives,” said Parish President Robottom. “I can’t thank CASA and all of the volunteers enough for the work that they do in our community.”
