St. John the Baptist Parish - Annual parades in St. John the Baptist Parish are set to roll this weekend before Mardi Gras as tradition holds. The Towahpahsah Parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 and the Krewe Du Monde Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018.
St. John Parish officials have met with representatives from each parade as well as emergency responders and all agencies who assist with logistics for both parades. The Towahpahsah and Krewe Du Monde Parades will follow their traditional routes in Reserve and LaPlace. Public bathrooms will be placed on parish servitudes throughout the parade routes for utilization by "parade-goers."
Roads are expected to close approximately 15 minutes before the parade arrives. St. John Parish as well as representatives from both parades ask that everyone remain safe along the parade routes.
Due to the Mardi Gras holiday, there will be no garbage collection on Mardi Gras Day, Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Collection will resume on Wednesday, February 14 for Tuesday and Wednesday routes. Residents are asked to please put their garbage can out by 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13., 2018.
In addition, Parish offices will be closed on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13., 2018. Parish offices will reopen, Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
